She graduated from Duke University with degrees in economics and French and earned her medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She is currently a first-year resident in plastic surgery at the University Hospitals of Cleveland Medical Center. Mona has a passionate love for donuts and can spend hours talking about her favorite donut shops. In her spare time, she enjoys running marathons and triathlons, practicing her French and Arabic, yoga, calligraphy, and R programming.

Sheel graduated from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Florida campus with the dual degrees of Doctor of Osteopathy and Masters of Health Service Administration in June 2016. She is currently enjoying a general surgery residency at Wayne State University in Detroit and hopes to subspecialize after completing residency. Sheel’s research interests are pediatrics and trauma. Her hobbies include art and painting, bike riding, and traveling.

In his free time, Jorge likes working out, teaching, spending time with his cats, and writing. He particularly enjoys writing about the humanities and historical topics in medicine. 

Tegveer Singh Sandhu, MD

Tegveer was born and grew up in Jalandhar City in the Punjab province of India. He recently graduated from Government Medical College Amritsar, India, and is currently doing research in pediatric sleep medicine at the University of Alberta while he pursues a residency in internal medicine. Vivian earned her PhD degree in microbiology at the University of Chicago and researched an enterotoxin produced by certain strains of <i>Bacteroides fragilis</i>. She recently earned her medical degree and is currently a resident at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. In her free time, Vivian enjoys meals with friends, cooking, and reading.

Originally from Canada, Deepika traveled to the United Kingdom to embark on a 6-year medicine program. She completed the first three years of medical school at the University of St. Andrews, and the last three years at the University of Edinburgh. Deepika also earned a Masters of Science degree in internal medicine at the University of Edinburgh, and is currently working at the British Heart Foundation. Her interests in internal medicine include research, teaching, and publishing.

Originally from Canada, Divya traveled to the United Kingdom to embark on a 6-year medicine program. Gabriel Reyes, MD

Gabriel grew up in southern California and earned his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Los Angeles, studying biology with an emphasis in biochemistry. At the University of California, San Francisco, he earned his PhD degree, studying mechanisms of resistance to TKIs in chronic myeloid leukemia. He has since earned his medical degree from UCLA and is currently in anesthesiology residency training at Stanford University. Gabriel enjoys reading, hiking, and cooking. 

Samantha Spilman, MD

Samantha is from southern California. She graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2012 with a Bachelors of Science degree in neuroscience. She then went to Georgetown University to earn a masters degree in physiology. Samantha earned her medical degree from the William Beaumont School of Medicine in Michigan and is currently in her first year of internal medicine residency at the University of California, San Diego.  

David Staudt, MD

David was born outside of Philadelphia but moved to Wisconsin at the age of 9. He earned his undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After spending some time teaching MCAT prep courses, he earned his medical degree at the University of Wisconsin. He is currently a medicine resident in the University of Pennsylvania system.  A huge nerd, David enjoys biking, reading, fumbling with a guitar, and spending time with his wife and their cat (Mrs. Pantaloons).  He makes a mean PB&J.

Matthew grew up in Farmington, Conn, and graduated from Tufts University with a degree in biology. He then completed research in neurodegenerative diseases at McLean Hospital, a Harvard affiliate, before earning his medical degree at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is continuing in the residency program at Touro. Matthew enjoys cooking, eating, brewing beer, hiking, and both playing and watching sports, particularly baseball and football. His proudest moment is winning a ghost chili challenge, which earned him a commemorative T-shirt and much-needed antacid.

Atman is from the deep southern state of Louisiana, but is often told he has no southern drawl. He graduated from Tulane University with a major in biomedical engineering and a minor in digital studio art. He earned his medical degree at Saba University School of Medicine and is now a resident in medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. When not in the hospital or in clinic, Atman loves listening to audiobooks and podcasts, hitting the gym, and expanding his palate with his fiancée.
